Paddle Away & Stay with a unique way to explore the natural beauty of Northern Michigan on a PaddleAway kayak tour. Choose from Bowers Harbor by Moonlight or Old Mission Stargazer. Tours include complete guide service, use of elite recreational kayaks, paddles, and PFDs, and snacks or boxed meals. All skill levels, including first time kayakers are welcome.

Winery Winter Warmups – Enjoy special tastings and offerings at Old Mission Peninsula wineries, restaurants, and bed & breakfasts. Cross-country skiing will be available on Saturday and Sundays at the Grey Hare Inn with a bonfire on Saturday night as well as complimentary juice tasting. Please call for event dates. See wine events tab for dates

Winter ice wine harvest – date is very weather driven so please call ahead. Experience an Old World winter harvest of grapes that have been left on the vines until the exact conditions are met. After harvest we will take you on a personally escorted of the vineyard.

Grey Hare Inn owners Christmas party – First weekend in January participate in themed celebration with upcoming plans for a French “Gros Supper” , a multi-course epicurean extravaganza featuring 13 desserts; or “Felice Navidade” of Latin holiday presentations. Recent past themes were an “Olympic Holiday Celebration” featuring athletic events such as the Funnelator Frozen Fish Fling, Luge, and Cross Country Skis Toss; and a Harry Potter Hogwarts Holiday.

Valentine’s Weekends - Enjoy fireside cheese fondue, “Wicked” hot chocolate, Naughty Wine and wonderful winter countryside views in addition to special themed gourmet breakfasts that all spell ROMANCE on any stay in February.

Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival – Usually the second or third weekend in February (2014 it's the 14-17th), or check our home page for exact dates; this package includes two tickets to one showing at the festival plus a complimentary video rental of a classic comedy film. In combination with WOWFEST in 2014 for more winter activities such as the frozen bed race.The Grey Hare Inn owners under their alternate business Grand Traverse Gourmet Cruises is sponsoring an ice carving of a schooner sailing vessel on behalf of the Maritime Heritage Alliance Schooner Fest in September

Super Getaway – February first weekend guests can choose between a package that will include dinner at a local sports bar to watch the Super Bowl or a women’s pamper package in conjunction with attendance at the Women’s Winter Tour including a massage and nightly turndown chocolates. We’ll do a halftime snow Frisbee and bonfire, but other options that can be incorporated into a custom package for this weekend are the Met Opera presentation at the State Theater, a wine dinner at the Boathouse on Friday and/or a cooking class at Chantal on Saturday. Stay the third night of Sunday at 50% of the regular rate.

March & April: Wine and the Arts appreciation months

A sage once said “ Without the arts we don’t evolve, without food we don’t survive, and without wine we don’t enjoy”. Several events are scheduled, and more will be added, during these two months to encourage fully experiencing these three elements of the Northern Michigan lifestyle. Elements of a variety of art forms will be combined with those of wine and food to celebrate April’s Michigan Wine Appreciation month. Several other April promotional events are also being held at nearby wineries, so for more information please visit

April Masters Sunday. Celebrate the art of the club at the annual Mini-Masters Golf Outing. Guests at the inn can join owners Magnolia and Beauregaard Ruzak and their friends on the ever-reinvented midsized course set up on the Grey Hare Inn’s 27 acres. A past champions tournament will also be held in late May or early June.

TSO Oboe Fanfare April 6 - TSO concert tickets for Sunday, are complimentary with your stay. And as well for the season finale on May 11 for Dazzling Strings. Then join the owners table on May 31, 2014 for the Traverse Symphony's reinvented annual GALA on May 31 for just $125 per person for an elegant evening of dining and entertainment.

May 19-20
Celebrate agriculture amid the natural beauty of Old Mission Peninsula during the blossoming of the cherry trees. For $15 you’ll receive a special glass to be used as your ticket for the barrel tastings at each of the OMP wineries. The Grey Hare Inn will offer juice tasting during vineyard tours. Guests at the inn will also enjoy the inaugural “Picnic in Provence” lunch in the vineyard.

[May through October “Picnics in Provence” guests can enjoy a typical southern France lunch dining outside among the vineyards for $45 per person. Advance reservations are required for limited spaces, which are subject to availability, and minimum participation levels.


July last week A Walk in the Clouds In conjunction with the Traverse City Film Festival the Grey Hare Inn is offering a “Walk in the Clouds” Harvest Stomp. After experiencing old world hand harvesting and stomping of grapes in a vat with your feet, enjoy a taste of the wine made from the inn’s grapes at Peninsula Cellars , hors d’oeuvres and a showing of the film “A Walk in the Clouds”. Advance reservations required

Date to be determined A “Stomp and Sail” – enjoy an Old World Grape Harvest Stomp at the Grey Hare Inn followed by a 2 hour sail aboard the Tall Ship Manitou $100 per person. Call for date confirmation

Experience grape harvest in an Old World way by hand picking grapes, stomping them with your feet in a vat, touring our boutique vineyard, then tasting the wine made from the inn’s grapes at nearby Peninsula Cellars. Two September “harvest days” are chosen by the end of August for the inn’s annual communal harvest party. Call ahead for reservations and date specifics, but private groups of 10 – 50 people can be scheduled anytime between August and October at a cost of $35 per person. The owners can provide some of the items home winemakers may need to further process their grapes at a reasonable cost, and can provide instruction or a connection with other processors to refine the grape juice into wine.


Saturdays in September Dining in the Vines Cost $170 p/p – For a total literal vineyard immersion expand upon the Grey Hare Inn’s “Picnic in Provence” by adding a dinner featuring the Boathouse’s Chef Eric Nittollo and Bowers Harbor Vineyards Spencer Stegenga ($125 for dinner only). Advanced reservations required and are very limited

October Date to be determined Grey Hare Inn Annual Harvest Stomp Party, 4p – 6p Experience Old World Grape Harvest by hand picking and de-stemming grapes and then stomping them into juice with your feet. Tasting of the wine made from the inn’s grapes at Peninsula Cellars and local produce hors d’oeuvres sampling are included in the $35 per person charge. Advance Reservations required and private events of 10 persons or more can be arranged for different times and dates.

September 19-21, 2014 – Maritime Heritage Alliance, Traverse City Michigan presents a Traverse City Schooner Festival as part of the Michigan Maritime History Celebration the weeks before and after. Owners will take guests sailing to see the festival aboard their 42ft sailboat $150 p/p providing a unique perspective of the event.
